Vintage Coca Cola Share A Coke With Your Dad 2001 COKE Collectables
In 2011 Coca-Cola created the “Share a Coke” campaign in order to adapt to the growing digital world. Coke wanted to accommodate to the changing environment and therefore created a campaign that would encourage people to connect with the brand both on and offline. The campaign revolves around a series of unfolding events in order to keep people entertained and engaged and to create hype through word of mouth and social media.
The “Share a Coke” campaign had two main objectives. The primary objective was to increase consumption of Coca-Cola over the summer period. The secondary objective was to get people talking about Coke. The campaign needed to make consumers see Coke as more than a lovable brand and rather encourage them to actually consume the product.
The campaign was originally trialed in Australia and as Australians are often known as being friendly people, Coca-Cola wanted to take advantage of this and connect with consumers on a more personal level. So in the summer of 2011, Coca-Cola initiated these conversations by putting Australians in the limelight and encouraging them to connect and “Share a Coke”. The campaign revolved around Coca-Cola releasing limited edition Coke bottles.
